The test
What you give us
- Your question. Leave out anything confidential, such as names, figures or plans you would not share outside your organisation.
- Your email address, only if you ask us to email you the result.
Where your question goes
- To OpenAI, whose models write both answers, answer the challenge and judge whether the answers reach the same decision.
- To web search, through OpenAI’s search tool, as each AI looks for pages.
- To r0b, our own service, which gives the low-cost AI its records. r0b’s log notes that a call happened, not the words of your question.
What we keep, and for how long
- The run: your question, both answers, the check and the verdict. We keep it for 30 days so you can come back to your result, then it is deleted automatically.
- If you ask for the result by email: your email address, your question, the verdict, the figures you put in the business case, and the country your connection comes from. We keep these to follow up with you, until you ask us to stop.
- To stop misuse, we count the runs from each connection each day. The count uses a one-way code made from your connection’s address and the date. We do not keep the address itself.
The check that you are a person
Before a run, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a program, is using the page. Cloudflare provides that check and also hosts this page.
When you subscribe
Your account
Your email address and your sign-in. Clerk runs sign-in for us and holds them.
Paying
Stripe takes your card and runs your subscription. We never see your card number. Stripe keeps your billing details and invoices; we see your plan, its dates and whether it is active.
Using r0b in your AI app
- Your AI app, such as Claude or ChatGPT, asks r0b for the records it needs to answer you.
- For each call, r0b keeps one line: your account, the r0b tool, the time, whether it worked, the size of the answer and, when your AI asks r0b to check an answer, whether the check passed and which of r0b’s rules it applied. r0b never keeps the words your AI sends, or the words of its answer.
- Your conversation stays with your AI app’s provider, under that provider’s own privacy terms.
- To keep your AI app connected, r0b keeps a record of each app you connect, with passes that expire. The passes are stored only in coded form.
For everyone
We send the test result through Postmark, only when you ask for it. Stripe may email you receipts and billing notices, and Clerk may email you a code to sign in.
How long we keep the rest
- Your account and billing records: while you subscribe, and after that for as long as the law requires.
- r0b’s call lines: 12 months, then deleted.
Who else holds it
Cloudflare (which hosts r0b and this site), Clerk, Stripe, Postmark and OpenAI, each for the part described above. Some of them hold data outside Australia, including in the United States.
